John L. McDonald is a Senior Partner in the Retained Executive Search Practice at Duran Human Capital Partners bringing over 30 years of corporate management and consulting experience together with eight years in senior executive search. Prior to joining Duran HCP, John was Vice President of the High Technology Practice at Rusher, Loscavio & LoPresto. Johnís corporate background provides direct knowledge and valuable insight to assist clients in the definition and refining of their needs and requirements and in identifying, assessing and proposing high impact candidates.
Johnís professional management and corporate consulting experience has ranged from over 15 years at IBM Corporation to include management positions at Amdahl, Hitachi and Storage Technology corporations. He was founder and President of The Phoenix Group consultancy serving clients ranging from startups to Fortune 500 companies.
John began his career at IBM where, in addition to management experience, he served at IBMís Advisory Representative to the White House. John has headed corporate marketing programs, international channel programs, services marketing organizations and served as general manager of a customer education and consulting business unit.
John holds a B.S. degree in Business Management and a MBA from San Jose State University. John is involved in the community having served on the Graduate Business School adjunct faculty at Golden Gate University, Santa Clara University and San Jose State University. He was a founder and past President of the Saratoga Residentís Association. John is a past member of the Board of Directors and Executive Council for Goodwill Industries of Santa Clara County, past Vice President and Board Member of the San Jose State University Alumni Association, past Chairman of the Fund for Excellence in Education and an Area Coordinator for the United Way of Santa Clara County.
